Notes on the bracket:
Seeds and locations are not matched yet. The committee matches seeds with locations after it fills out the bracket on Selection Monday.
Unlike the men's tournament, women's teams that host the first and second round not only can play at their host site, they are required to play there. However, regional hosts cannot play at their host site, so that means Cal cannot be in the Berkely regional, NC State cannot play in Raleigh, and Rider cannot be in the Trenton bracket. The Big 12 is the host for the Oklahoma City regional.
Conferences with more than one bid:

8: Big East
6: ACC, Big 12, SEC
5: Big 10
3: A-10, Mtn W, Pac 10
2: MAC
Last four in: Bowling Green, Minnesota, San Diego St, TCU.
Close, but NIT (Not In Tournament): Boston College, Georgia, Indiana, VCU.
Teams marked with a * either have already received automatic bids or are current leaders of conferences with automatic bids.

The conference leader is defined as the team with the highest RPI among those with the fewest conference losses. Once the conference tournament starts, the conference leader is the highest seed still alive.

The selection committee (year term expires):
  • Jaclyn Silar (10) - Duke - Chair
  • Darlene Baker (09) - WAC
  • Tina Cheatham (10) - Southland Conf
  • Greg Christopher (12) - Bowling Green
  • Richard Ensor (11) - MAAC
  • Heather Gores (12) - Gonzaga
  • Marilyn McNeil (11) - Monmouth
  • Jane Meyer (10) - Iowa
  • Judy Southard (09) - LSU
  • Camden Wood Selig (11) Western Kentucky
